PTA
What is PTA?
PTA stands for Parent-Teacher Association, which is a group started by parents in cooperation with the school staff. When a school has a PTA, it is becomes part of the local volunteer PTA (Third District PTA), as well as California State PTA and National PTA. This allows us to better:
• Increase family engagement and volunteerism
• Implement programs to engage families in student success or school improvements
• Qualify for grants and awards to support your school
• Partner with other community organizations
• Enhance fundraising efforts
PTA at Cordova Villa Elementary
As of February 2025, we have created our own Cordova Villa Elementary PTA!!! Our Board of Officers and the bylaws have been voted in, and we're ready to get to work. It is our job to help fill any gaps in resources that the school may experience. At the moment, our focus is:
Discovery: Finding out what our school is needing right now, as well as planning for the upcoming year.
Fundraising/Promotion: Promoting our PTA organization and making connections to help our fundraising opportunities.
Health/Safety/Wellness: What do the students and teachers need to ensure they feel healthy, safe, and well? This can range from supplying additional hand sanitizers and facial tissues, to simply playing and engaging with the students to connect with them.
Our Board of Directors:
President: Di Ana Teresa M. Galbraith
Vice President: David Wadly
Treasurer: Susie Patterson
Secretary: Matthew Galbraith
What to expect as a PTA member
Volunteer: You can put in as much time as you want, or no time at all. We will need help with raising awareness for events, as well as help at the events themselves. We strongly encourage parents to become a volunteer with the school so that they may move more freely when it's time to help.
Donate: If you do not have time to give, consider a donation to Cordova Villa PTA. Your donations will go towards any Cordova Villa Elementary PTA events/resources that have been approved by the Board of Officers and the PTA members.
Fee: Our members pay a yearly $10.00 fee. This money helps us pay for our PTA membership fees to the California and National PTA.
Membership Breakdown:
$2.25 goes to the National PTA
$2.00 goes to the California PTA
$0.75 goes to Third District PTA
$5.00 goes directly to Cordova Villa PTA
If you are interested in becoming a member with Cordova Villa Elementary PTA, or would like to make a donation, please contact the PTA President, Di Ana Teresa M. Galbraith. Or feel free to join online now! (Please note that there is a $0.26 surcharge for the online service.)
